Estonia today is a lot more than its famous song festivals and infotechnology. Professional glass art in Estonia will celebrate its 75th anniversary next year. There are artists, who have been noticed and appreciated, twenty of whom will represent Estonian glass at the Gernheim Glass Museum this autumn. Participating together are both well-known and very young artists.

Portraying the main trends in Estonian glass, most of the works classify as sculptural or conceptual objects and installations. The diverse exposition is showing the different authors’ established handwritings, messages and techniques: romantic “Kisses”, subtle “Lullabies”, hopefully blossoming “Fragiles”, hypnotizing “Flowlines”, “Hedgehogs” – willing to fight; “Antique” aside with “Computers”, national patterns highlighted by perfect optical glass; mastering the material of glass backed by knowledge of ancient techniques; water and light, poetry …

Participating are: Merle Bukovec, Liisi Junolainen, Viivi-Ann Keerdo, Kati Kerstna, Kai Kiudsoo-Värv, Eve Koha, Kai Koppel, Eeva Käsper, Ivo Lill, Toomas Mäelt, Kairi Orgusaar, Anneli Paloveer, Rait Prääts, Toomas Riisalu, Peeter Rudaš, Mare Saare, Kai Saarepuu, Maret Sarapu, Tiina Sarapu, and Kristiina Uslar.
