Mark Angus held his masterclass “Human figure. Acid etched flashed glass and lamination” for the students of glass of the Estonian Academy of Arts. The British artist, now residing in Frauenau, Germany, was in Estonia for the second time, his previous visit was in connection with his masterclass on painting and stained glass in 2007.
In Olustvere, Central Estonia, more than forty expressive glass panels were created both by the students and the master, using the painterly properties of flashed glass etched by acid.
The event was sponsored by the German company Lamberts, who provided the academy with handblown flashed glass panels and the company “Wacker”, who provided the transparent two-component silicone for lamination.
The exhibition “Taste of Glass” presents the outcome of the masterclass from July 18 to August 31, 2010 at the lately renovated historical distillery building of the Olustvere manor. The participants of the exhibition are: Mark Angus, Andra Jõgis, Mikk Jäger, Külli Nidermann, Kristiina Oppi, Darja Popolitova, Mare Saare, Mai Schults, Caspar Sild, Maria Tamm, Maarja Treufeldt.
The former distillery also houses a hot glass studio maintained by Eili Soon.
The studio and the museum are open from Tuesday to Sunday 10 AM to 6 PM.
