Organized as a triennial, this year&#8217;s competition received 470 applications from artists of 39 countries.<!--more--><br \/>\nThe biggest number of applicants (156) as well as of those selected for the exhibition \u2013 30 % of all the selections \u2013 came from Japan.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2815\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/klaasikunst.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/580.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2815\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2815\" alt=\"Mare Saare &quot;Synonyms of Wave&quot;\" src=\"http:\/\/klaasikunst.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/580-300x292.png\" width=\"300\" height=\"292\" srcset=\"https:\/\/klaasikunst.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/580-300x292.png 300w, https:\/\/klaasikunst.ee\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/580.png 545w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2815\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mare Saare &#8220;Synonyms of Wave&#8221;<\/p><\/div>\n<p>From the 17 prizes this year&#8217;s Grand Prix went to the Japanese artist Takahasi Ishizeki and Gold Prize to the Hungarian Laszlo Lukacsi. One of the four Silver Prizes came to Estonia, namely Mare Saare for her work &#8220;Synonyms of Wave&#8221;. Kristiina Uslar (EST) won Honourable mention for the second time, after the previous competition in 2007, for &#8220;+ \u2013&#8221;. In 2001 Estonian artist Ivo Lill has won the Silver Prize of the competition. In 2010 yet another prize came to the Baltic countries as the Latvian artist Inguna Audere received the Jiri Harcuba Prize for her &#8220;Old Women&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition in Kanazawa was open at the end of August and from October 2 to November 29, 2010 it will be on show in the Notojima Glass Art Museum in Nanao, Ishikawa province.<\/p>\n<p>Mare Saare<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The International Exhibition of Glass Art Kanazawa, Japan, qualifies as one with the longest tradition in the international glass world.
