In Juli 2009 Mare Saare was Artist in Residence in Glashütte Eisch (www.eisch.de), Frauenau, Germany. Works made during the month-long residency and a selection of earlier glass objects are shown at the exhibition “Passages” in Galerie am Museum/Eisch Atelier in Frauenau from August 19 to November 7, 2009. The opening speech was given by Belgian artist Sandra de Clerck.

The ambivalent meaning of the word “passages” is expressed in the groups of glass objects, made in different techniques – fusing, glass blowing, acid-etching, engraving – each of which carries the visual fragility and vulnerability characteristic of Saare’s handwriting.

The exhibition is accompanied by a small catalogue “Passages”, available athttp://www.blurb.com/user/store/MHSaare .
